PRESS RELEASE
The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance
Seeks Industry Input on Video Analytics Specification
Las Vegas – March 24, 2010 – The Physical Security Interoperability Alliance
(www.psialliance.org), a global consortium of physical security providers focused on promoting
the interoperability of IP-enabled devices, will release its Video Analytics draft specification for
public comment in April.
“This specification, which is based on ObjectVideo’s OV Ready framework, enables video
analytic platforms of all types and from all vendors to automatically integrate with video
management systems and physical security software,” said Bob Cutting, Chairman of the Video
Analytics Working Group. “This specification is critical as more customers demand that
analytics communicate with existing infrastructure in a simple and cost effective manner.”
The specification — crafted through the collaborative input from multiple analytic, IP camera,
VMS and platform vendors — defines a standard way to output, receive, store and use video
analytic event output. The open interface addresses event output including security alerts,
counting events, and analytics system health messages. This initial specification also supports the
streaming of object metadata output, which includes foundational analytic output regarding all
objects tracked by the analytics, including object classification, bounding box data and
velocities.
Once posted, the Video Analytics draft specification will be available for review on PSIA’s Web
site (http://www.psialliance.org) for 30 days. After this public period, comments will be assessed
and a final 1.0 version of the specification will be published.
