Strength in Numbers: Letter from the Director

by David Bunzel

At the PSIA, it is our mission to make it easier for product vendors, integrators, end users and consultants to specify, install and purchase IP products that do not require customized integration or lock users into purchasing one specific brand.

We have made great strides towards our objectives with the release of three PSIA specifications: IP Video, Recording and Content Management and now, Video Analytics. We are quickly moving toward making the entire IP ecosystem, as it relates to physical security, interoperable.

At ASIS, we will be demonstrating how far PSIA has come. I encourage you to attend our Interoperability Reception, on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at 4 p.m. in Room A122 to view this progress. This networking reception will provide potential members and users with the opportunity to engage existing PSIA members and speak with the engineering teams working diligently to make IP interoperability a reality. I’d like to personally thank Arecont Vision, Milestone Systems and Synectics for sponsoring this event.

PSIA is dedicated to building interoperability across all technology sectors through specifications that help manufacturers provide end users and systems integrators with simpler avenues to developing a comprehensive IP solution. Furthermore, we work to stimulate the understanding, adoption and use of IP security devices. The alliance invests heavily in education focused on the appropriate uses of networked-based products for security applications through innovative programs, research, advocacy and open discussion.

PSIA provides an avenue for users, integrators and product vendors to exchange ideas, discuss industry issues and work together to develop and expand the use of IP-enabled devices. There are many benefits of membership in PSIA including:

  • Network: Join us for PSIA-sanctioned events and connect with other industry leaders.
  • Market: Position your company as a leader in IP technology by marketing your products as PSIA-enabled.
  • Educate: Access PSIA materials that outline the benefits of using networked devices for security applications.
  • Influence: Through PSIA outreach to industry consultants, cutting-edge security practitioners and key media contacts.
  • Grow: IP is here to stay. Future-proof your business by lowering research and development costs, and increasing vendor choices through standards and interoperability.
  • Innovate: Be part of the evolution of the security market products by leading the way to interoperable IP systems that include video, access control, video analytics, and recording and storage platforms.

Don’t hesitate, now is the time to join PSIA. There are a variety of membership levels available for any company’s budget. Gain access to the benefits of membership today.
